INDIANAPOLIS – Firefighters and police officers found a man inside a burned out pickup truck after extinguishing a fire on the city’s northeast side Wednesday morning.

Firefighters arrived to put out a fire to a pickup truck in the 3600 block of Dearborn Avenue around 6:30 a.m.

After extinguishing the fire, they found an unresponsive adult male inside the truck suffering from signs of trauma from the fire.

Detectives said they will not know if the victim suffered any other forms of trauma until after an autopsy has been performed. The victim has not been identified.

Investigators said they have not made a connection, but are looking to see if the incident is related to an earlier shooting in the 2700 block of Lullwater Lane.

This is Indianapolis' seventh death since Sunday.
