Daniels, Ballard Tout Tech Company's Job Creation Plans

Slingshot SEO Plans To Expand Indianapolis Operations

A tech company announced Friday morning that it could add more than 100 new jobs in Indianapolis by 2013.

Slingshot SEO, a search optimization company, said it will expand its operations in Indianapolis. The company was founded by three friends from Zionsville High School.

Slingshot SEO said it plans to invest more than $685,000 in its current space at 8900 Keystone Crossing.

The company, which currently has about 50 employees, has several high-tech clients, including Indianapolis-based email marketing firm ExactTarget, Finish Line and Valpak.

"Indianapolis is a hotbed for Internet marketing. We have companies in this industry … that are experiencing rapid growth and gaining national recognition," Ballard said in a news release. "These high-tech companies in this very specialized area benefit from our skilled workforce and low costs of doing business."

Daniels touted what he called Indiana's entrepreneurial culture, claiming that spirit attracts nascent businesses.

"These companies have been particularly successful at providing the kind of opportunities that graduates of Indiana's colleges and universities are looking for as they begin their careers," Daniels said in a news release.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Slingshot SEO up to $1.15 million in performance-based tax credits for its job creation plans.

As 6News reported in March, city and state claims of job creation don't always pan out.
