INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Public School leaders say IPS is 'stronger together.' And that was the theme of their first-ever State of the District address.

"Some things in life are simple, some things in life are very easy to understand," Aleesia Johnson, IPS superintendent, said. "And so it is when it comes to the importance of education as one of the most critical drivers to future success."

Superintendent Johnson laid out the district's plans for growth and improvement at the event held at Shortridge High School.

Included in the plans was the push to prepare students for life after high school, no matter what path they choose.

"We've earned more than one million dollars to support the work we're doing; to support the work we're doing in post-secondary readiness," Johnson said. "To build a stronger connection with workforce partners, higher education, and the military, to ensure our students have opportunities and exposures to pathways beyond K-12 before they leave us."

IPS recently held its first job fair for seniors.
