INDIANAPOLIS - An anonymous donor made a generous donation to help hundreds of students at a Washington Township elementary school.
Nora Elementary School Principal Amber Walters said she reached out to the community, looking for donations to help students stay warm this winter.
She said one person approached officials with Church at the Crossing and asked to pick up the tab for 400 new coats.
"All I know is they just wanted to make a difference in the community, they came from a family in need and they wanted to continue to help and pay it forward in the community," Walters said.
The coats were distributed to the students Monday afternoon.
Walters said there is a great need at Nora and many students have been coming to school without a coat -- which is why she reached out for help.
About 85 percent of the school's 750 students receive free or reduced-price meals.
