INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has a new officer — 7-year-old Sebastian.

Officer Sebastian is fighting cancer, and he took a break Thursday for some French fries at McDonald's.

He was noticed by IMPD Captain Ted Koppel and other officers with the Southwest District at a Coffee with a Cop event.

Koppel immediately swore in Sebastian as an IMPD officer.

"Many of you may not know this, but IMPD Captains are granted a special ability to swear in young men and women as officers to help us fight crime in our community," IMPD Southwest District posted on Facebook. "Only in the rarest of occasions does this happen and only to the absolutely most brave and deserving candidates."
