California tobacco alternative company moves HQ to Westfield

WESTFIELD — A California-based producer of coffee-based alternatives to chewing tobacco on Tuesday announced plans to relocate its headquarters and production facility to Westfield.

Grinds LLC plan to invest more than $6.7 million and create up to 56 new jobs by 2023, according to a news release from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. The company is moving and consolidating its production, fulfillment and distribution operations along with its headquarters from Oakland, Calif. to 17065 Oak Ridge Road where it is leasing and equipping a 27,000-square-foot facility.

"Indiana's reputation as a destination for business continues to be heard across the nation, attraction companies like Grinds," Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch said in a statement. "With a world of options, we're thrilled Grinds chose to expand in Indiana. We look forward to witnessing their success in our state as they produce their innovative product with the help of our Hoosier workforce."

The company currently employs 25 people in the U.S. and is hiring immediately for a variety of positions including, CFO, accountant, HR manager, operational managers, administrative staff, and others. Interested applicants may email a resume or apply through LinkedIn and Indeed postings.

"When the founders of Grinds began the search for a new headquarters, I knew Indiana had to be at the top of the list," Ken Warren, Grinds COO, said. "Because of the collaborative efforts by the city of Westfield, state of Indiana and our site consultant, RESOURCE, it was an easy choice to pick Westfield for our fast-growing business."

Grinds was founded in 2009 as a healthy tobacco alternative for professional baseball players. The company has refined the product, which are flavored coffee pouches, with energy-boosting B vitamins and other nutrients for daily activities.
