INDIANAPOLIS — As unemployment continues to rise, the city and Indy Chamber announced a new initiative Tuesday to help people get back to work.

Working with EmployIndy and Ascend Indiana, the Indy Chamber launched a service called Rapid Response Talent that will focus on unemployment in the region caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a news release from the city, Rapid Response Talent will add to existing services, focus on the skills and experience of a job seeker and organize a talent pool that employers and employment partners with available positions can access based on their needs.

“As the weeks go by, the topics of conversations we’ve held with businesses impacted by COVID-19 have evolved,” Indy Chamber President and CEO Michael Huber said. “Phase one was all about health, safety, and business model changes. Phase two has been focused on financial assistance, and we anticipate the next wave will center on human capital. This new platform leverages the expansive Indy Chamber network of employers to fast-track job search to employment in the face of this unprecedented time.”

Businesses looking to hire, along with recruiters and employment partners, will be able to post job opportunities and find people whose skills match open positions, while job seekers will join a searchable talent pool after they fill out a form, upload their resume and outline their work history.

“There is tremendous demand from our workforce on connection to new opportunities,” Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett said. “While EmployIndy and Ascend Indiana continue to develop long-term holistic workforce solutions, Rapid Response Talent is a short-term solution to an immediate need, leveraging the vast employer network of the Indy Chamber to connect our local workforce with jobs.”
