INDIANAPOLIS — As students head back to school this week, we're looking at the options available to them right now that could prove valuable learning experiences for their future careers.

Ramses Camargo recently graduated from Arsenal Tech High School and he's using the skills he learned in school now to soar in his career.

Camargo was part of the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC), which gives students a bit of experience in the "Army way of life" while they're still in school.

As part of JROTC, students can learn about military, marching, physical fitness and leadership.

Camargo says the structure helped him to lean more about responsibility, which he now uses in the real world.

Camargo says he also joined one of the pathways of the automotive industry while in school, which helped him to land a job right out of high school with multiple certifications and saved him hundreds of dollars.

He says his boss was impressed because he was able to hop right into fixing cars as soon as he graduated.

"Right out of high school some people are like I don't know what to do after. With these classes you have a general direction of where you want to go," Camargo said.

The school offers about a dozen pathways and numerous extra curricular activities, like JROTC, to help students be more prepared when they graduate.
