INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana University School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI has launched a new program that allows students to get two degrees, without costing them additional time or money.

The Dual Degree Advantage Program lets students add a bachelor of arts in liberal arts to complement their first degree, all within the traditional four-year time frame.

The program waives the liberal arts baccalaureate competencies for students in in the liberal arts school whose first major is in another IUPUI school.

The purpose of the program is to help students to stand out after college, because they have two full degrees and skill sets that are both soft and technical.

The school says the program sells students to employers by highlighting their critical thinking, leadership, intensive research skills and cultural understanding skills.

Majors in liberal arts include things like geography, journalism, philosophy and medical sociology.
