INDIANAPOLIS — Another way to help Hoosiers get hired is to expose young people to possible careers early in life and help develop those interests.

More than 70 girls from local high schools took part in the American Heart Association's Go Red Go STEM event Wednesday.

The girls had a chance to learn about science, technology, engineering and math careers via hands-on experiences from local leaders in the industry.

"They're all creating an experiential learning for this young women to experience what a career in STEM might look like and how they might seem themselves in that field in the future," Allegion chief human resources officer Shelley Meador said.

Go Red Go STEM is part of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement that empowers women to improve their overall health and well-being.
