BOONE CO. — There is a high need for Emergency Medical Responders, especially in rural areas of Indiana.

Witham Health Services and Thorntown/Sugar Creek Fire Department are offering a class for Boone county residents interested in becoming certified Emergency Medical Responders.

Students will learn basic anatomy and physiology as well as skills needed in emergency medical situations like common cardiac and respiratory issues.

The class can also serve as a stepping stone for those looking to be an EMT or paramedic.

The class costs $225, and the final day to apply is January 31.

Classes are held every Monday and Thursday evening from 6 pm to 10 pm at the Thorntown/Sugar Creek Fire Department. The session starts on February 10 and lasts until March 20.
