INDIANAPOLIS — High school students are getting a head start with 500 positions available at FedEx.
The kids from George Washington High School had a tour of the Fed Ex Express Hub Facility by the Indianapolis International Airport on Thursday. The students learned about multiple opportunities the company is offering to teens.
RTV6 caught up with one student who told us she gets to do this kind of job through a program called "Jobs for America's Graduates" (JAG), a non-profit organization.
"I'm not really worried about getting a job because JAG is something that helps us out," Idalina Brito, a junior at George Washington High School, said. "We go on field trips, and everybody gets to see different things, and the kinds of jobs they would like to see or would want to work at."
The pay for positions at Fed Ex Express starts at $15 an hour, and work comes with medical, vision and dental benefits. Additionally, employees can get assistance with tuition.
FedEx says that anyone of the students who were at least 18-years-old that visited the facility on Thursday has even more opportunities waiting for them soon.
"Anybody that really is interested in coming into a company in which they can learn and grow, they can come to work for FedEx," Jeannice Shobe, recruitment and training manager at FedEx Express, said.
FedEx is set to hold another job fair on Saturday. There are no minimum education requirements to apply.
The job fair is Saturday, May 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 6311 Airway Drive.
