INDIANAPOLIS — There are over 300 million people living in the U.S. and the Census Bureau needs a lot of people to count them all this year.

There are job openings for census workers—a lot of job openings. The Census Bureau is on what it calls a "recruiting blitz" for people who want to take part in the 2020 count.

Open houses are planned at five Indiana locations this Saturday. Here's the information.

  1. Indianapolis: 151 West Ohio Street, Suite Lower Level 100, noon to 2 p.m.
  2. Fort Wayne: 3818 West Jefferson Boulevard, Suite 205, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  3. Evansville: 1108 Washington Square Mall. 10 a.m. to noon
  4. Lake County: 8585 Broadway, Suite 140, Merrillville, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Job seekers will be able to apply on-site for both field and office positions. The Census Bureau says hourly pay in Indiana ranges from $18.50 to $25 per-hour. Hours are flexible.

The bureau says these jobs are a "perfect opportunity for students, retirees, part-time workers, and everyone looking to earn extra income."
