INDIANAPOLIS — Grocery stores across central Indiana like Meijer and Kroger are trying to keep up with the demand and help those out of work right now because of the novel coronavirus.

Meijer is currently hiring for seasonal positions. A spokesman said new team members should expect to perform stocking duties.

It comes as they work to get products back on the shelves in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile at Kroger, they also have immediate openings. In a release, the company said they are looking for friendly, open-hearted and dedicated people. The company said the positions are perfect for people whose current jobs have been suspended because of the outbreak.

A Kroger spokesman said new employees may work for the Kroger pick-up team or be hired as cashiers. There are also openings at Kroger manufacturing plans and distribution centers.

The company said all of these positions play a key role in helping keep the stores stocked with fresh food and products that consumers need.
