NEWBURGH — A tornado left behind significant damage throughout Christina Shipley's home on March 28, one day after she was overcome by symptoms of COVID-19.

While her home was battered by the tornado she had to ride out the storm isolated from her finance, Ben Hendrix.

Christina and Ben remain separated in different rooms, and both are now weathering yet another storm while waiting for their individual unemployment claims to be processed.

We also connected through FaceTime with Fred Payne, commissioner of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the agency that oversees unemployment benefits statewide.

Workforce Development is adding more people Monday to the claims process to make sure dollars make into the hands of Hoosiers.
