INDIANAPOLIS — There is new information for the hundreds of Hoosiers impacted by the sudden shutdown of trucking company Celadon.

The company announced this week it is filing for bankruptcy and people working for the Indianapolis-based trucking firm were left unemployed without warning. The state and other businesses are stepping in to help those impacted.

Mike Heffner with Express Employment Professionals in Greenwood is encouraging former Celadon employees to take action now.

"We've had some drivers and mechanics that have both come in and interviewed," Heffner said. "There are jobs available that are out there."

There are jobs for not only drivers and mechanics, but also for the hundreds working in customer service, human resources and other support staff roles.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development is also stepping in to help. The agency's rapid response team is planning a virtual online meeting for former Celadon employees and they plan to host virtual job fairs as well. Those start next week.

"It is a good time to go find a job. Even though people may think, 'Oh, it's the holidays people are too busy,' that's not true," Heffner said.

Heffner also said it may be an opportunity to find a job more suited for them.

"The good thing is it's kind of a time to reflect and say, "Ok, I didn't expect that what can I go do?'" Heffner said.

The first virtual job fair is scheduled for Dec. 19. Click here to register for the virtual job fair.

The Indiana Motor Truck Association also has a 21-page long list of jobs in the trucking industry that are available. See that list here:
