2 Indiana sheriff's deputies cleared in shootout

A prosecutor has cleared two Indiana sheriff's deputies in a fatal shootout in a rural cemetery.
Johnson County Prosecutor Brad Cooper said this week that Deputies Jarrod Wiser and Dan Combs were protecting themselves when they shot Derek J. Hobson in July 2013 in a cemetery east of Franklin.
The Daily Journal reports 25-year-old Hobson was running from the deputies when he turned and fired one shot at them from a handgun. The deputies returned fire, shooting 11 times. Two bullets hit the Greenwood man in the back and he died later that day.
Cooper says the officers were justified in shooting back because Hobson shot first.
Police were responding to a call when they found Hobson in the cemetery. Hobson was wanted on arrest warrants.
