COLUMBUS, Ind – A 65-year-old man is dead after a house fire in Columbus early Saturday morning.

Emergency responders were called to the 700 block of Della Road around 3:15 a.m. on the report of a house fire. When they arrived, they found the house fully engulfed.

Ronald Rhoades, 65, of Columbus, was found by firefighters inside the house once the fire was extinguished.

The Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office said the cause and manner of the death are under investigation.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the cause of the house fire.

Foul play is not suspected.
