BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. -- The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department wants to know who smashed several mailboxes last weekend.

Sheriff Matt Myers said almost 20 were vandalized late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Most of those happened on Sprague Road, Denver Road, and County Road 300S.

There are also reports of roads signs also being vandalized. Investigators believe those and the mailboxes were either run over or sideswiped by a vehicle.

Damaging a mailbox is a federal offense punishable with a fine up to $250,000 and three years in prison for each mailbox vandalized.

If you have any information on these cases, you’re asked to call Lt. Chad Swank at (812) 565-5928. You can also call the sheriff’s tip line at (812) 379-1712.
