BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A Bloomington sex offender was arrested Thursday in connection with the death of his 2-month-old daughter.

Police say the mother gave the infant a bottle before heading to work Sunday morning.

Robierre Mcneil, 33, was left with his daughter for the day.

Mcneil told police he checked on the infant at 4:45 p.m. and she did not respond. The 2-month-old was taken to IU Health Bloomington where she was pronounced dead.

Autopsy results revealed that the infant had two skull fractures as a result of blunt force trauma.

Mcneil was interviewed by detectives on Wednesday and said he didn't know how his daughter was injured.

He was preliminarily charged with aggravated battery and neglect of a dependent resulting in death.

Mcneil is also a registered sex offender in Indiana.

He pleaded guilty to child molesting and served one year in jail.
