ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- Zionsville is now the permanent home for the Little League International Central Regional Headquarters, according to a decision made by the group's Board of Directors on Friday.

The headquarters is currently located in Indianapolis.

The other two communities under final consideration were Plainfield, Ind. and Matteson, Illinois.

Little League officials noted the facilities, strong infrastructure and community support as reasons behind its decision to select Zionsville.

"We are very excited to be able to call Zionsville the new home for our Central Region Headquarters and are looking forward to what the future holds in this community and throughout the regions," said Stephen Kenner, Little League President and CEO.

"This announcement will have a significant impact on the restaurants and hotels in Zionsville and the surrounding Boone County communities," said Molly Whitehead, Boone County Economic Development Executive Director.

The Central Region Headquarters serves as the administrative center for Little League Baseball and Softball in Kansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The headquarters will be located on the southwest corner of Whitestown Parkway and South 875E, just south of Zionsville High School Baseball and Softball Complex.

The facility is expected to open in 2019.
