ELWOOD — The Madison County Coroner is asking for the public's help to find family members of a local veteran who passed away last week.

Coroner Danielle Noone says George R. Green, 89, lived alone in his home in the 500 block of North C Street in Elwood. Some of his neighbors there would help watch over him and take him to the store when he needed it, so they were worried when they hadn't heard from him in a couple of days. Green was found deceased inside his home on December 5 during a welfare check. He died from natural causes, according to Noone.

Noone says Green served in the U.S. Army and has been a lifelong resident of Elwood.

Green was born May 25, 1930 and has no known family members. The coroner's office is hoping that someone can help them identify any living relatives he may have.

If you known Green or have any tips that might help the coroner's office find his family, please contact the Madison County Coroner at 765-425-9481.
