HAMILTON COUNTY — A 47-year-old Frankton man was killed in a late-afternoon accident in northern Hamilton County Friday.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, the accident involved three vehicles and happened just before 4:30 p.m. on 236th Street near Deming Road, west of Cicero.

Deputies believe the driver of one eastbound car tried to pass several vehicles at one time on 236th Street. When the driver tried to get back into the eastbound lane, the car hit the rear end of another vehicle, driven by Christopher Woodward of Frankton in Madison County.

Woodward's car was then pushed into the westbound lane and collided head on with a Jeep Wrangler.

Woodward was dead at the scene and the two other drivers were injured. Crash investigators believe speed and unsafe lane movement contributed to the fatal accident.

Toxicology tests were done on the survivors to determine if impairment was a factor.
