1 dead, 1 injured in shooting at pub on south side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead and another is seriously injured after a shooting Friday night at a pub on the south side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department public information officer Genae Cook said officers were called at 9:50 p.m. to Jakes Pub at 1280 W. Southport Road regarding a shooting. When they arrived, police found two people who had been shot.

Both people were taken to area hospitals. One of the victims was pronounced dead, while the other is in serious condition.

Cook said there was a disturbance at the bar before the shooting.

The Marion County Coroner will release the name of the person who died after their family has been notified.
