INDIANAPOLIS — The death of a man found burning in the back yard of a home in Indianapolis on Wednesday has now been ruled a homicide.

Firefighters were called to a home on Drexel Avenue just before 6:30 a.m. after a neighbor reported a fire burning at the rear of a residence. Responding firefighters discovered a man's body under a pile of debris that had been set on fire, according to an officer at the scene.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department PIO Jim Gillespie said Thursday that the fire was on the back deck of a home and the body was discovered after the fire was put out. The victim's identity has not been released.
