INDIANAPOLIS — The U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently seized shipments of a sedative that may lead to dependency hidden in coffee tins.

The tablets were Zolpidem, a schedule IV substance under the Controlled Substance Act, according to the CBP.

“Most people hear about CBP seizing narcotics shipments,” said James Moore, Port Director, Indianapolis. “However shipments of illegal prescription pills are very dangerous too. These pills were not regulated by the FDA and can contain harmful chemicals that could be poisonous.”

The shipments were in six different parcels, all came from the United Kingdom and were headed to separate addresses. They were found at an Indianapolis express consignment facility.
