Former Indy basketball trainer released on bond following arrest on sexual misconduct charges

INDIANAPOLIS — A former Indianapolis basketball trainer charged with multiple counts related to sexual misconduct with underage girls made his first court appearance on Thursday.

Shon Bolden, a former trainer at Shoot 360 on Indianapolis' northwest side, appeared before Marion County Judge Grant Hawkins for an initial hearing. Bolden was arrested Tuesday and was released from the Marion County Jail on Wednesday after posting a $25,000 surety bond.

His next court appearance, a pre-trial hearing, is set for Feb. 5.

The investigation begin in June 2018 with a complaint from a 26-year-old woman. The woman told police when she was about 13 years old, Bolden would fondle her and touch her buttocks. The victim said he would put his hand around her throat and rub, referring to the touching as "his comfort," according to a 24-page probable cause document.

The court filing describes similar levels of abuse for as many as 20 different girls of varying ages while they trained at Shoot 360.

No trial date has yet been set. The court also issued 26 no contact orders in the case.
