IMPD: Man apparently shot, killed inside apartment on Indianapolis' northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS — A man appears to have been shot and killed early Saturday morning inside an apartment on the northwest side of Indianapolis, according to police.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called around 5:30 a.m. to the Covered Bridge Apartments, near West 71st Street and Georgetown Road, on the report of a person down, IMPD Officer Michael Hewitt said in an email.

When they arrived, they located a man who appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds, Hewitt said. The man later died.

The identity of the man or any possible suspects have not been released.
