INDIANAPOLIS -- Police say they are investigating a body found near the White River Thursday morning, but that it’s not clear yet whether foul play was involved.

The body of an unidentified male was discovered around 10 a.m. Thursday near the rail bridge that crosses the White River at Waterway Boulevard and White River Parkway Drive. Police responded to the 1100 block of North White River Parkway West Drive and began processing the scene.

According to IMPD Sgt. Christopher Wilburn, it “did not appear the body had been there for an extended period of time,” but little else was able to be determined.

Police said the case was being investigated as a death investigation.

Wilburn said the case would be handed over to the Marion County Coroner’s Office for identification of the body and a determination of cause of death.
