IMPD officer arrested in domestic violence case

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer is under arrest and facing charges in a domestic violence case.

According to the police department, Officer Mittan Katoch as been with the department four-years and is assigned to the Southwest District.

Police were called to the officer's home late-Thursday on a report of a disturbance. When the responding officers learned that a member of their department was allegedly involved, a supervisor was called and the Special Investigations Unit reported to the scene.

Probable cause was established and Katoch was arrested and faces preliminary charges of battery and domestic battery. He is suspended from the department without pay and faces termination. The Marion County Prosecutor will review the case before filing formal charges.

IMPD Chief Randal Taylor stated, "I am disappointed in the alleged decisions of one of our officers. This behavior will not be tolerated. We remain committed to holding ourselves to the highest ethical standards while protecting the community we serve."
