INDIANAPOLIS — Police in Indianapolis are asking for the public's help to identify and locate a driver who struck a pedestrian in the early hours of Sunday morning and left him to die.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 1900 block of North Rural Street around 12:20 a.m. for a report of a hit-and-run accident. Officers say an adult male was at the intersection of Brookside Avenue and Rural Avenue when he was struck by a white SUV.

The vehicle is believed to have been traveling north on Rural Street when they struck the victim, according to police. The driver then fled the scene without stopping to render any aide to the victim.

The victim did not survive.

Marion County Chief Deputy Coroner Alfie McGinty identified the man as 61-year-old Larry Ferrell.

Investigators determined that the striking vehicle was a 2003-2006 white Cadillac Escalade.
