CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a police officer in western Indiana shot and wounded a person who reportedly pointed a handgun at officers who were responding to a domestic situation.

Indiana State Police say officers from the Crawfordsville Police Department responded about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday to a call about the situation involving a suicidal person and the officer apparently fired in self-defense. The person who was shot was taken to a hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.

No one else was injured.

The investigation is ongoing. State police are investigating the officer-involved shooting and Crawfordsville police are investigating the domestic situation.
