INDIANAPOLIS -- The lockdown has been lifted at two schools as police investigate a possible homicide on Indianapolis' east side.

Lakeside Elementary School, which is across the street from the scene, and Warren Central High School had been locked down as authorities tried to get a man to come out of his apartment.

A male victim with gunshot wounds was found in a car just after noon in the 2100 block of Shoreland Drive at the entrance to Marina Apartments. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified as Jared Dowell, 21.

One person was led away from the scene in handcuffs and several have been brought in for questioning.

If the death is ruled a homicide, it would be the city's 139th of the year.
