INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana State Police SWAT Team executed a search warrant Tuesday night at an east side home as part of an ongoing IMPD homicide investigation.
ISP’s Emergency Response Group served the warrant at the home in the 3600 block of North Whittier Place shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday.
According to a report documenting the incident, the team seized two cellphones. No arrests were made.
The address is the same one where 23-year-old Marcus Williams, of Plainfield, was fatally shot on June 10, 2015 – but IMPD declined to say whether Tuesday’s search was connected to that case. IMPD records show Williams’ shooting is currently categorized as self-defense.
IMPD Deputy Chief of Investigations Chris Bailey said ISP SWAT officers were called in to assist because the department’s own team was in training.
“They have been excellent partners when we need a hand in a case like this,” Bailey said. “We cannot discuss the reason for the warrant or the nature of the evidence seized due to an ongoing investigation.”
Department policy allows officers 10 days to return a search warrant after its execution. As of Thursday afternoon, Tuesday’s warrant was not yet available for review.
