INDIANAPOLIS -- Alleged gang leader Richard Grundy III will be held without bond while he awaits trial on federal charges of conspiracy to deal methamphetamine and money laundering.
Grundy and 25 others were charged last week for their alleged roles in a large-scale drug trafficking ring that moved methamphetamine from Arizona to be distributed in Indianapolis.
Federal prosecutors allege Grundy, his associate David Carroll and others pooled $84,500 to purchase a large shipment of methamphetamine in Phoenix, Arizona.

The money was interdicted on a Greyhound bus in New Mexico in the possession of Christopher D. Bradford and Daona Le’Ann Gholston, who are also charged in the indictment.
At his initial hearing, federal prosecutors asked that Grundy and his co-defendants be held without bail, arguing that they were flight risks.
On Monday, a federal judge granted that request for Grundy and one of his co-defendants, Thomas Bullock. Another co-defendant, Ezell Neville, waived his right to a detention hearing. The detention hearing for a fourth defendant, Frank S. Early, was moved to a later date.
If convicted of conspiracy to deal methamphetamine, Grundy faces a maximum sentence of up to life in prison. A trial date has not yet been set.
