Kokomo police investigating after man was shot

KOKOMO — A man was shot Thursday night in Kokomo, police said.

A 38-year-old man is in critical but stable condition after he was shot in the left side around 9 p.m., according to a press release Friday morning from the Kokomo Police Department.

The man showed up to Community Howard Regional Hospital as police were called to the possible crime scene, near Monroe and Locke streets, according to the release. He was later taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis by a medical helicopter.

Officers located at least 22 shell casings at the crime scene, according to the release. A light-colored Dodge Charger may be involved in the incident.
