LEBANON — A pediatrician in Boone County has been arrested and charged with child molestation.

Police say their investigation began after a 12-year-old boy said Dr. Jonathon W. Cavins touched him inappropriately during a physical examination on February 4.

The incident occured in one of the examination rooms in the Witham Health Services Pediatrics suite.

Police say a forensic interview was conducted with the victim at Sylvia's Child Advocacy Center where investigators obtained more details about the alleged incident.

Following the interview, detectives executed a search warrant on the personal office of Dr. Cavins and the examination room where the child said the alleged acts had occured.

Detectives found evidence that was consistent with the victim's statement and determined that the manner in which Dr. Cavins touched the child was not consistent with a routine medical or physical evaluation.

Police say the Witham Health Services has offered their full cooperation into the investigation.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lebanon Police Department.
