Man arrested after firing shots during road rage incident in Carmel

CARMEL — Police have arrested a 56-year-old Indianapolis man after shots were fired during a road rage incident Friday morning in Carmel.

Around, 8:45 a.m., the man and a 21-year-old Indianapolis man were driving on North Michigan Road and got into a road rage incident, Carmel Police Department Lt. Joe Bickel said.

After pulling into the Village Pantry near 106th Street and North Michigan Road, they got into a fist fight, Bickel said. When the 21-year-old tried to leave, the 56-year-old man fired two shots at the other man’s tires.

No injuries were reported.

The 56-year-old man was charged on the suspicion of two counts of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, two counts of pointing a firearm, intimidation, battery, and disorderly conduct, Bickel said.

Detectives said after they interviewed both people, the 21-year-old man was not charged.
