INDIANAPOLIS — Detectives arrested a man last week who is accused of robbing several cell phone stores around Indianapolis.

According to information from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, a 21-year-old man was taken into custody after IMPD Covert Robbery Unit (CRU) detectives found the vehicle they believe was used in multiple Metro PCS robberies.

RTV6 does not name suspects until formal charges are announced.

On Nov. 25, CRU detectives found the car that was allegedly used in the robberies and made a traffic stop. IMPD said the man ran away during the stop.

While he was running, the man fell to the ground and allegedly stood up with a gun in his hands. He then continued running and entered a nearby apartment building.

Detectives found the man and arrested him without incident, IMPD said. A broken handgun and live rounds of ammunition were allegedly found next to where he was apprehended. IMPD said officers walked the route the man fled and found a loaded handgun.

Detectives believe the man may have committed other robberies in the city.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the Marion County Jail. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will review the case and announce charges.
