INDIANAPOLIS -- A man was shot and killed in an apparent murder Thursday afternoon at a southeast side apartment complex.

The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the English Village apartments in the 7500 block of South Village Way, located along English Avenue between Shadeland Avenue and I-465.

Responding officers arrived to find a 30-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The homicide is the city’s 53rd in 2018, but the first for a wide swath of the southeast side that had so far avoided the city’s record-pace violence.
