INDIANAPOLIS — A man who died after a double shooting on Indianapolis' southeast side earlier this month has been identified.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 5300 block of Straw Hat Drive around 9:30 p.m. on August 18 for a report of a person shot.

Arriving officers found two men in the yard of the home suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Marion County Coroner has identified that man as Brian Cobb, 34. Cobb's cause of death is listed as "multiple gunshot wounds."

The second man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. His status is unknown at this time.

Witnesses told police that the two men had forced entry into a home in the area. A struggle then occurred over a weapon and both men who had tried to force their way into the home had been shot, according to IMPD. The residents were complying with detectives and no arrests have been made at this time.

The shooting remains under investigation. If you have any information contact IMPD or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
