INDIANAPOLIS — A mother is pleading for answers after her daughter was shot and killed just days after Christmas.

Alexis Edwards, 26, was a mother of two boys and was shot and killed on Dec. 29 outside her home near West 52nd Street and Georgetown Road. Her 3-year-old son was also shot, but survived.

"Broad daylight a woman is shot six times with her child in the car," Ruby Berry, her mother says. "There's no arrest, there's nothing. I really haven't heard much from the police. I am asking for help, justice for my daughter she deserves it. Her life matters."

She thinks several people know who is responsible for killing her daughter because just hours before she was shot, there was an altercation when two girls and two men came to her home at 4 a.m.

"She went outside to try to stick up for herself because they were trying to damage her car," Berry said.

Berry says they were actually looking for her close friend. After that, words were exchanged on social media just hours before the shooting.

"The man walked up to the car and had some words with her and because she was on the phone with a friend of hers when this altercation happened," Berry said. "He shot her six times. And shot my grandson my three-year-old grandson as well. So this is a monster."

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives are still investigating the case and say they hope this story will force someone to come forward with information.
