BROWNSTOWN — A man murdered early-Wednesday in Jackson County has been identified as 28-year-old Ryan Ross of Seymour.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department says deputies were called to a house in the eastern part of the county just after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. The location is about 60-miles south of Indianapolis.

There, they found a man now identified as Ross, shot to death.

Deputies questioned a witness, and the man suspected in the murder. 30-year-old Tobias Au of Hope, Indiana in neighboring Bartholomew County was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown.

According to the sheriff's department, the victim and suspect knew each other. There were two children inside the house at the time of the shooting.

Exactly what prompted the crime is something investigators are trying to determine.
