Two killed, one critical after shooting on Indianapolis' north side

INDIANAPOLIS — Police say a man and his 3-month-old nephew were killed in a triple shooting Saturday afternoon.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called around 1:30 p.m. to the 2300 block of Guilford Avenue, near East 23rd Street and North College Avenue, on the report of a person shot, IMPD Officer Michael Hewitt said in an email. They found three people suffering from a gunshot wounds when they arrived.

Two people, a 37-year-old man and his 3-month-old nephew, have died, Hewitt said. The other victim, the man's mother, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Ivory Smith, 36, the girlfriend of the man, was arrested, Hewitt said. Her charges have not been released.
