INDIANAPOLIS — One person was shot and killed on the Indianapolis northeast side Wednesday evening.
Police officers and homicide detectives were called to East 30th Street near North Arlington Avenue just after 8:30 p.m.
The victim, who may have been caught up in a road-rage incident, was rushed to a local hospital but later died.
Police closed off busy East 30th to traffic between Arlington and North Ritter Avenue as a large crowd gathered at the scene.
There were no immediate details on whether a suspect was in custody.
The city's north east side has been hit very hard by violent crime in a year that may be the worst yet for murders in Indianapolis.
