Rape reported at IUPUI's Ball Residence Hall

INDIANAPOLIS -- The IUPUI Police Department launched a rape investigation Thursday following a report of a sexual assault at Ball Residence Hall.

According to a release sent to the IUPUI campus, the rape was reported to police at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, but occurred hours earlier.

In the release, IUPUI police said the suspect reportedly “pressured the victim to engage in nonconsensual sexual acts.”

Police also said the suspect’s identity was known, and that they are an acquaintance of the victim.

As of Thursday evening, the investigation into the case was ongoing and no arrests had been reported.
