LAFAYETTE — Two people were arrested in Lafayette after they violated the governor's stay-at-home order to record video of a traffic stop.

Lafayette Police Department Lieutenant Matt Gard said officers were on a traffic stop with a vehicle that had been reported as suspicious when the man and woman showed up in a separate vehicle.

Gard said the two began live-streaming the officers activities on Youtube while they were conducting the traffic stop.

"As Youtube activity is not considered an essential activity by the governor, an officer observed them and stopped them and issued a citation," Gard said.

The two were cited for the misdemeanor violation and released at the scene.

Gard said the two citations issued Thursday were only the second and third Lafayette police have had to issue since Governor Eric Holcomb's stay-at-home order took effect. The first citation they issued was to a juvenile who was arrested on an unrelated charge back on March 31.
