KOKOMO — Kokomo Police Department officers arrested a man and a woman on Wednesday for the murder of 50-year-old Anthony DeWayne Hardimon.

Hardimon was found by police just after midnight on Saturday, July 4, in the yard of a house in the 1800 Block of North Jay Street, on Kokomo's north side. He was pronounced dead at St. Vincent Hospital.

According to KPD, Hardimon was "battered with severe injuries." The Howard County Coroner ruled the case as a homicide Monday after a preliminary autopsy report found the 50-year-old's death as a result of blunt force trauma and asphyxia by strangulation.

After conducting interviews and reviewing evidence, KPD submitted affidavits to the Howard County Prosecutor's Office requesting files to be charged against two suspects.

One of the suspects was recently incarcerated at the Howard County Criminal Justice Center on an unrelated charge. His bail is now set at $1,000,000.

The other suspect was arrested by KPD and transported to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center as well. Her bond is $750,000.

According to KPD, this is still an active investigation.
