Woman arrested on suspicion of OWI after man killed in Lafayette crash

LAFAYETTE — A woman was arrested early Sunday morning after Lafayette police say she was driving while intoxicated and involved in a deadly crash.

Lafayette Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called around 2:30 a.m. to the 3600 block of State Road 38 East, near Lafayette Market Place, on the report of a single-vehicle crash, LPD Sgt. Mike Brown said in a press release. When they arrived, they found a car crashed into a utility pole and tree.

A front seat passenger, Michael Creamer, 30, of Lafayette, died in the crash, according to the press release. A 31-year-old backseat passenger was treated for minor injuries.

A 27-year-old woman, of Lafayette, was arrested on the suspicion of OWI resulting in death, according to the release.
