MUNCIE — The Delaware County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of a four-legged officer.
In a post on its Facebook page Tuesday night, the sheriff's office announced veteran K-9 officer Billy died. A cause of death was not given.
"K9 Billy served the citizens of Delaware County for 8 years, apprehended many criminals, and was utilized on many bomb call outs," the post said. "Billy almost always had a tennis ball wherever he went."
The sheriff's office asked that people keep Corporal Dave Williams and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
